About North Florida Archers:
North Florida Archers (NFA) is located
in downtown Yukon, across from the NAS Jacksonville Yorktown Ave. gate.
See
the LOCATION page for area maps and further directions.
NFA
facilities are open from 7:00 A.M. until
dark seven days a week. All members
are given the combination to the access gate so they may come and go at their
leisure. We welcome Boy/Girl
scouts or youth church groups to visit and try their hand at the sport.
Coaching is offered in the finer points of archery as well as the safety
aspects of archery for our guest groups. We
maintain a few extra bows on hand so the groups will not have to purchase these
items to visit.
NFA is a non-profit
organization and is directed by members in good standing.
We have a very low membership fee for individuals and families.
Membership dues are used for maintenance costs associated with the club.
We have a monthly club meeting to discuss club issues and to welcome new
members.
NFA provides
facilities for both Traditional and Compound shooters (no crossbows) within its 50 acres
including an open target range featuring targets of varying distances up to 100
yards. We also have a wooded trail
surrounding the club that features multiple 3D targets. The property includes
historical elements as well as approximately 44 acres of beautiful shooting
lanes.
History:
The US Navy in support
of the Morale Welfare and Recreation for government personnel established North
FL Archery in 1988. In 1990 it was turned over to civilians for management and
control. About five years ago it became part of the Westside Regional Park.
